Essentially, partnerships and alliances are divided into three different markets:
Business-to-Business Partnerships
We help our clients avoid wasting time, money and the opportunity by:
being properly prepared with clear objectives and the right partnering strategy
selecting the right partner with the right partnering framework (governance, processes and behaviours) and an appropriate negotiated deal
ensuring that best practice partnership management techniques are built into the partnership and that the contractual incentives are mutually beneficial.
facilitating the partnership launch, ongoing management and review process to ensure the partnership value is maximised
As always with partnerships and alliances, building trust is essential.
Affinity Maker™ helps business-to-business partners move from inward-looking, self-protecting behaviours to a recognition of the value of interdependence between partners. This helps our clients move to a position where they can all focus on the future value they can create for the partnership by working more closely together.
Cross industry expertise, shared around the globe on a weekly basis, is one of the strengths of our organisation. Often we find bringing together organisations from different industries is the key to leveraging further revenue from brands.

Shared Services Partnerships
This refers to the consolidation and sharing of services by different units within an organisation. Often recognised as a form of "internal outsourcing", shared services partnerships enable businesses to achieve economies of scale by creating a separate internal entity within the company to perform specific services across different business units that otherwise will be duplicated, such as Finance, Human Resources (HR), Site Management, Facilities Management, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mandatory Training and Procurement functions.
The objective of that separate internal entity is to streamline the organisation's functions and to deliver services to internal customers at a cost, quality and timeliness that is competitive with alternatives.
Affinity Maker™ helps organisations create the second generation of shared services, moving beyond the simple customer/supplier relationships to one based on long-term partnership. By building understanding on all sides about the needs and capabilities of the partners, the relationship between the shared service provider and their clients can move from transactional to strategic.
We help clients develop the necessary governance structures, processes and measurement frameworks to make shared service relationships work. We can also help to recruit and train people in business partner roles to sustain the benefits of the shared service model.

Public Private Partnerships
Public-private partnership (PPP) describes a government service or private business venture which is funded and operated through a partnership of government and one or more private sector companies. These are sometimes known as business-to-government partnerships.
One type of PPP is a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) where capital investment is made by the private sector on the strength of a contract with government to provide agreed services.
PPP's are usually large and complex initiatives. Our work with PPP's enables organisations with very different cultures to improve their joint delivery to the public by accelerating the delivery and improving the quality of results.
Our experience shows that if not managed effectively, PPP's can quickly go off the rails at an operational level. They become:
tied up in contractual complexity
stuck in operational bureaucracy
indecisive with milestones missed or delayed
bound by structural and cultural silos, with poor communication and little collective leadership
demoralised as perceived association with failure takes its toll.
Creating successful public private partnerships involves aligning different cultures to speed up decision making and delivery. Affinity Maker™ helps clients change from a contract-driven, adversarial approach to collaborative partnering behaviors.
